Dancing Anymore
Two things you’re bound to find in almost every cool French music video: incredible cinematography combined with a surprise element that blows minds. Is Tropical’s “Dancing Anymore” makes no exception. Offering a valuable insight into what goes on in a teenager’s mind, the video oozes gorgeousness with every shot and could easily work as a short film. And, as would be expected when talking about teenagers, it also abounds in sex related fantasies. Youtube’s moral majority got it banned only 20 minutes after it was launched.
Using as a pretext the male protagonist landing a dream job of becoming a rich family’s pool boy, which allows him to explore their fancy mansion, directors Megaforce take us on a wild NSFW journey. The crudeness of the horny boy’s fantasies is at times unnerving, especially when his female partners are reduced to body parts; lips, tongues and vaginas. The girls are game-inspired CGI characters with trademark unrealistic physical proportions and properties (such as the ability to travel through walls), which is a brilliant directorial decision, as it perfectly reflects the elements women/girls are reduced to in the mind of a 16 year-old. And there’s some blood, big guns and rock ‘n’ roll!
Call us wicked and superficial, but we found these 5 intensive minutes more enlightening than features, documentaries and even books on this theme!
