During decadent times, a lonely stag tries to make sense of what little remains of his decomposing world. Gorgeous but melancholic music video by Simon Balazs for Nils Frahm’s track “Re”. From the director’s press release: “I like the freshness and power of concept art a lot, but I have a feeling that in most cases the atmosphere gets lost during the execution of the video itself. That’s why I decided to draw the graphics in a free manner, and animate the movie using these drawings directly. I didn’t recreate the scenes in 3D, I simply broke the graphics down to their elements and used them in the 3D space, like a relief. This way the video exists somewhere between 2D and 3D, and the scenes only make sense from the perspective of the camera”. Watch also the making-of below:
