Handshake
Though the track is called Handshakes, it is really the heads which are rolling and shaking in this wonderfully tragi-comical music-video directed by Sam Pilling, paying tribute to the 90s film hits: The Big Lebowski and Kingpin. Featuring The Two Door Cinema Club band members (or better said: their heads!) as balls, the promo mainly deals with the tension between two rivals played by Ian Virgo and Martin Hancock, during an epic ten pin bowling match.
Making heads roll, might sound and seem more easy than it actually was, especially since the whole shooting had to happen in only one day. The visual effects team required band members to be literally rolled along a hard wooden floor with cushions stuffed down their backs. In addition Sam Pilling confesses that band member “Alex did lick the bowling pin and Kevin was actually dragged along with his head in the gutter!”. Read more about the making of Handshake in this Promonews interview.
It might not have been the easiest shooting day for the band, but who could deny the awesomeness of the outcome?
